Dr Rina Routray is an Odisha-based well-recognized social activist and adviser to some of the most invaluable entities in women's empowerment, sustainable development, and welfare of the community. Through Mahila Atmanirbhar Abhiyan Odisha, since the year 2019 engaged enthusiastically in the women's movement for rights and socio-economic independence of women. She bases her effort on seeing a self-reliant, gender-equal society whereby women get adequate opportunities and resources to accomplish their goals in personal and professional life.
The whole work of Dr. Routray is to educate women, provide them job opportunities, and render them into entrepreneurship in Odisha. Such programs under the Mahila Atmanirbhar Abhiyan will cover skill development, financial literacy, and entrepreneurial training. She has therefore been able to bring the creations into the mainstream. Her advocacy marked the beginning of Odisha's handloom products reaching out to domestic and global markets. According to her, the traditions, though there, should thrive in modern times.
She has also collaborated with institutions such as the World Trade Center Bhubaneswar and K3 Ladies Club in providing a platform for the handloom artisans to showcase their work. Her initiatives have generated awareness about the importance of handloom in Odisha's socio-cultural and economic milieu, hence giving artisans the recognition and markets that they so rightly deserve.
Along with her work among women and artisans, Dr. Routray crusades for gender equality. She strongly crusades against domestic violence, child marriage, and injustice against women. Her mission aims at dismantling those patriarchal structures standing as stumbling blocks to their rights and opportunities and at building a society where women equally receive justice and resources.
